Sin has separated us from our heavenly family. The price of sin = eternal death. Jesus paid that price for us by taking our place. If we believe and accept Him as our Lord and Savior we shall not perish but have everlasting life. (Google John 3:16)

HEADS UP! Do you sit on the computer all day? THEN READ THIS! <3

Posted by SpikeVallentine - July 22nd, 2013

Hi.

The work I do requires me to sit on the computer for long hours. I've always heard "Sitting for long hours is unhealthy" a while back, but only now I felt like researching it! I didn't know it was this critical! If you value your health, then you might appreciate this article!!!: Here and Here

I've been sitting on the computer nearly all day for years!!!!! That article truly speaks to me! No wonder I've been feeling out of shape!

The article links you to some cool software that notifies you when you should get up from the computer!

WOW I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING!!!
I would catch my self and many others SHAKING THEIR LEGS while sitting down! Sitting while eating! My mother dislikes this and says it looks unpolite (is that just her?). But...wow....could that be the body kicking in to counter the "sit of death"? The thing is, my legs shake without me thinking about it! Have you noticed people shaking their legs while they sit and eat or even just sit?!

Other Thoughts
1) Still working on our RPG. Polish polish polish!
2) How are you?
3) What was the highlight of your day?

Fine, after all is just some stretching for one minute every hour it seems doable... as long as no one else complains.

:8D

Well, the shaking leg thing is more common than you might think. All my brothers and I do it subconsciously now and again, but I've heard from people that they notice that it happens with most Latinos.

WOAHHHH! Awesome articles!!

YYa!

You should swing by AGDG more often.

Whats AGDG?

I use focus booster while animating, which gives you a 5 minute break every 25 minutes. I usually use those 5 minutes to make tea or stretch or just to get up from the chair really.

You should try it out if you're concerned about your health.

Very nice! Thanks for the recommendation! I am using it now!

Heyy! A perfect way to Gage the time you spend not sitting is through music! Makes the nonsitting enjoyable as well!

Hahah yeah, absolutely. Music amplifies the fun in work!

I know a lot of people who subconsciously shake their legs or tap the backs of their feet when they've been sitting a while. I used to do it a good bit, too, but I think I've trained myself to rarely ever shake my legs anymore because I've always found it distracting or irritating when other people do it.

Wow! Interesting. So you wanted to appear more polite? Now that I learn this I am glad to remember that I've had that habit. I think it might be healthy.

Now what JonBro? Will you still restrain yourself?

But sorry, guess i was confusing you for someone else.

No problem!

Woah, thanks for sharing this! When composing under a deadline, I'll sometimes be sitting down for up to ten hours straight, and I often am sitting for at least 4 hours straight on a daily basis using the computer. I'm going to start getting up more frequently.

You may have just helped adding seven years to my life! :o

Great to hear you're sincere about your health! I've been doing a lot of standing ever since!
At first it was tiring but now I'm used to it!

I've shared this information with bunches of people now. I feel like I'm on a crusade to inform people about the evils of sitting. XD

Wow yeah. Absolutely! I think it's totally share worthy.

At this point I would question some of the findings e.g. between 1980 and 2000 obesity doubled. That might have more to do with the amount of extra calorie intake (e.g. fast food portions increase) than only sitting.

For me, I found that taking regular physical activity breaks really help with concentration. Haven't considered that sitting (or rather non-activity) may have such impact on health.

On a similar topic, many years ago there were a few occasions where as I was going to sleep, my body suddenly jolted. I later heard one explanation that it is the body's way release tension. Only happened a few times but it was interesting.

p.s. Looking forward to the game ;)

I'm super excited for your game, dude!

Wow, really?! Thanks!

At my part-time job, my postion requires me to move for an entire 4-5hrs a day, I wanted to become an aritst and not work so hard, but now knowing about all of this.. perhaps I need to keep that active job for my excerise. 40% Death rate is no laughing matter.
